保羅•麥克里希指揮的《亨德爾：狄奧多拉》，2009年的《企鵝古典唱片指南》中評鑒為四星。
亨德爾（Handel）晚年的清唱劇創作與晚期的歌劇如出一轍，都開始走強烈抒情的路線，直到他最后幾部清唱劇《Susanna》、《Solomon》、《Theodora》也有近20年的光陰，早期和中期那種宏大的悲劇史詩已經逐步讓位給抒情性的悲劇，四部戰時清唱?。骸禞udas Maccabaeus》、《The Occasional Oratrio》、《Joshua》、《Alexander Balus》被認為是高峰，并取得了極大的成功，但形成鮮明反差的是《Theodora》這部1749年的作品所遭受的命運卻是凄慘的，1750年3月的首演只持續了三場，1755年重演也只有一場，1759年的重演因為亨德爾的逝世而被取消。面對空空如也的劇院，亨德爾也說了自嘲的話：“對于猶太人來說，這是基督教的故事；對于婦女來說，這又是道德故事?！?br>指揮家兼大提琴家保羅•麥克里希（Paul McCreesh），1960年5月24日出生于英國倫敦，在曼徹斯特大學念書的時候就創辦演奏室內樂合唱團與古樂器的小型樂團，1982年擴編為嘉布里耶利合奏團（Gabrieli Consort & Players），以演奏文藝復興與巴洛克時期作品為主。由于保羅•麥克里希對17～18世紀音樂的深入研究和多次演奏試驗，擴編后的嘉布里耶利合奏團除演出文藝復興與巴洛克時代作品外，也涉獵18世紀“變革”時期的音樂作品。他們的演奏往往能為作品注入全新而且豐富的創造力與情感，因此在國際樂壇聲名鵲起。這套由DG旗下Archiv唱片公司發行的CD版本《Theodora》由保羅•麥克里希指揮，2009年的《企鵝古典唱片指南》中評鑒為四星。
