1975年本身為製作人和錄音師的Alan Parsons 與詞曲作者的同事Eric Woolfson組成了The Alan Parsons Project 與其說這是一個團體不如說他們是以 Parsons 為基準的一種音樂概念組合。
出生於英國的 Alan ，起初是在 EMI 唱片公司擔任錄音師，在那段期間他曾經替披頭四在 1969 年所發行的 《 Abbey Road 》 進行后製，也使得他日后為披頭四的保羅麥卡尼工作了一段時間，而為他奠定名聲的作品，就莫過於平克佛洛伊德《 Pink Floyd 》的《 Dark Side of the Moon 》了。
在經過一段音樂生涯之后， Alan 認為他應該要開始創造一些屬於他個人的作品，於是他找來了作詞作曲家 Eric Woolfson 與他一起合作，共組 The Alan Parsons Project，他們自己創作音樂編曲，並且邀集優秀的歌手、樂手一起來完成他們的音樂理想。於是在七、八○ 年代間 The Alan Parsons Project 的作品在流行榜上都相當的受歡迎，一度成為佳話。
世紀典藏精選可以說是跨足 The Alan Parsons Project 在七、八○年代間的所有經典專輯：像是來自專輯（ Pyramid ）歌曲（ The Eagle Will Rise Again 〉 有著明亮的聲音；還有 《Vulture Culture》中扣人心弦的、( The Same Old Sun ) ；八 ○年代中期的 《 Stereotomy 》 的 ( Limelight )、（ Light of The World > 。《 Ammonia Avenue 》 中最經典的< Ammonia Avenue > ；膾炙人口的＜ Time ＞則是取自專輯 《 The Turn Of A Friendly Card 》；曾經躍居 Billboard 單曲榜季軍的< Eye In The Sky > （出自 1982年的《 Eye In The Sky 》） … 都很值得讓你再次收藏、細細品味 The Alan Parsons Project。
